State/Jury Dispute Over Compensation

On July 14, 2012, in Cobb County a truck accident case was brought before a Jury that got into a brawl about monetary compensation. The Plaintiff is a special ed teacher who was driving in Winder, Georgia with three children in the car when her vehicle was hit by a truck. Jurors ended up in what was nearly a fist-fight. A few jurors were willing to award the Plaintiff over a millions in damages while one juror held out with the opinion that the Plaintiff should be given a lower sum. The final award was $800,000.

Powell & Associates/Walton County Car Accident

On May 4th, 2012, the attorneys at Powell & Associates settled a car accident case outside of court. The Plaintiff was driving down Alcovy Street in Walton County, Georgia. Shortly after pulling into a left turn lane, the car behind her failed to keep proper distance and caused a rear-end collision. The initial settlement offer from the at fault insurance company was $2,200. After numerous negotiations a fair settlement was offered at $150,000.
